Cothrom iongantach aig BSGI tro'n 'Northern Alliance'?

Cothrom iongantach airson an Caidreachas a Tuath? Dè mu dheidhinn an 'Northern Alliance' is BSGI?

Tha e deich bliadhna bhon a dh’ fhosgail Bun-Sgoil Ghàidhlig Inbhir Nis, agus feumar aideachadh gu bheil seo na sgeulachd fìor mhath. Tha e follaiseach gur e sgoil soirbheachail a th' ann, le luchd-obrach is coimhearsnachd air fad làidir is aonaichte. Nuair a tha na sgoilearan a’ dol dhan àrd-sgoil, bidh iad a’ tighinn à BSGI le misneachd, earbsa is cairdeas eadar ri chèile. Tha iad a’ sealltain dealas agus pròis air an cultar is dualchas aca. Chuala sinn fianais àlainn oidhche Haoine mar chomharra den deichead mìorbhaileach – ceòl càileachd àrd, bàrdachd, dannsadh, clann is daoine òg siùbhlach agus cuideachail am measg an luchd-obrach, na pàrantan is caraidean eadar-dhealaichte.

Air an adhbhar sin – air sgàth’s gu bheil coileanadh àrd aig BSGI, nach bu chòir dhuinn coimhead air adhart gu misneachdail agus gu dàna air an àm ri teachd? ’S ann seachad a tha na h-aithisgean gruama…

D. James Ross, HIE & Authenticity - Blog 2

How good it was to see D. James Ross honoured with an MBE in the New Year’s Honours list, for “services to Renaissance and Baroque Scottish Music in the North of Scotland.” This particular Highlander has been, for many years, a beacon of excellence as musician, historian, raconteur and wit, and more besides. And it is only right that James’ contribution to our musical heritage has been recognised as work of major importance. His achievement has been, above all, to highlight a Renaissance Scotland which we should see as “a real Golden Age of music of national and international significance – a treasury of Musick Fyne, ripe for rediscovery.”
Respectful rediscovery, I would assert. Important in James’ work, and that of his many talented collaborators, has been the notion of authenticity – texts, venues, arrangements, instrumentation, and a range of stylistic considerations have always been foregrounded in the musical repertoire of Coronach and Musick Fyne, his two principal ensembles, and…

Thoir maitheanas do’n droch Ghàidhlig!
Cuir Gàidhlig fo eagal sinn, mura h-eil Gàidhlig bho thùs againn. Thoisich mo sgeulachd-siubhail fìor ag ionnsachaidh Gàidhlig, mar tidsear Beurla air fo-fhastadh ann an Acadamaidh Rìoghail Inbhir Nis. Gu ruige seo, mar a tha sibh a’ faicinn, ’s work in progress a th’ann. ’S dòcha bidh e ‘eureka moment’ mar a bha do’n ùghdar na bhloig ‘Confessions of a Scottish Gaelic Learner’ – no ’s dòcha cha bhi.
Tha e an crocadh air taic, neo-ar-thaing. Tha còmhradh aodann ri aodann as fheàrr, ach rinn mi an-uiridh An Cùrsa Inntrigidh aig Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, a bha spòrsail agus dùbhlan fad na h-ùine, gu h-araidh ro’n còmhradh seachdaineil. Air a’ chùrsa ‘GifT’ tron Oilthigh Srath-Chluaidh a-nis, feumaidh sinn leughaidh mu dheidhinn cànain eile, m.e. Eireannach agus a’ Chuimris. Tha sinn a’ tuigsinn nas fheàrr an fhìrinn mu ‘Language Death’, agus na trioblaidean le ‘Intergenerational Transmission’ anns a’ Gàidhlig. Gu simp…
